The NBO is embarking on a project to provide an opportunity for more people to experience conducting a large handbell group. We are keen to provide the opportunity to enable more people to have the experience of conducting and in that way to help develop more people to have the confidence and ability to conduct a handbell group. Looking to the future we are particularly keen to provide this opportunity to some younger current ringers as we see this a being crucial to the longer term health of handbell ringing.
Initially we are to hold an afternoon of opportunity on Saturday 18 November when those who have expressed an interest will be able to conduct the NBO in rehearsal. This will be held at Ashover Parish Hall, Derbyshire (the usual NBO rehearsal venue) from 1 p.m. Feedback will be provided to all participants, together with discussion as to what future opportunities may arise as we develop the project. In order for potential participants to get a flavour of what is involved they would be very welcome to visit the NBO as an observer at its previous rehearsal on 21 October.
